Monday, March 23rd, will be the 1st day of Offsite Distance Education for South Prairie. Bus drivers and para educators will be delivering packets and textbooks to everyone. Please expect them to arrive 4 hours after your normal pick up time. Everyone that is on a route will have them delivered to your normal pick up spot. The one exception is that all K-Mart and YMCA students will need to meet at the YMCA between 11:30 & 1:30, those of you that are not on a country route and drive daily, expect your packet to be delivered to the YMCA.

Our goal is it to provide educational opportunities to each and every student. For this to happen, our #1 priority for the first week is to touch base with all students and see that everyone is able to connect though the online methods your child’s teacher will be using. SRT will be providing free internet access to those that do not currently have access. Jen and Nancy will be calling all families that did not respond to our first survey where we asked about internet connections and devices capable of accessing the internet.

The USDA is providing Free Lunch, Breakfast, and Snacks to all children 18 and under.  Please connect the school to be put on the list for the food to be delivered to you on the bus route!

Please look at the first week as a learning opportunity for both your children and the teachers. Feedback from you will help in seeing that all of your children are challenged educationally and continue to make progress in this online service. Later into the first week, teachers will ask for specific feedback and the district will have more broad questions for you as well. Together we will make the best of this situation.

After this week when teachers have made contact with all students digitally, they will start receiving assignments weekly. Look for future updates from the school for more details on this.

I have always lived by the motto: “In every disaster there lies an opportunity.” For the students and staff of South Prairie, the COVID-19 pandemic is giving us the opportunity to broaden our teaching and learning styles and, most importantly, continue to grow as a family.

Mr. Stanley, Superintendent
