Each year, student council chapters across the state fundraise for the Alzheimer’s Association. This tradition began when the state student council director’s late wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and has continued annually as a way for students to give back to a meaningful cause.

We have increased the amount of money raised at South Prairie every year we participate, which is awesome! As a school, we raised over $3,000 to donate to North Dakota’s Alzheimer’s Association chapter.

This year’s competitions were:

Elementary: The class that purchased the most flowers earned the chance to spray Mrs. Neshem with silly string at the assembly.

WINNING CLASS: Mrs. Pederson’s 3rd Grade!

Grades 6–12: Seven generous students volunteered to shave their heads if they received the most votes—the winning student was William James. During the assembly, some student council members announced that if they could raise $100 on the spot, they could convince additional students to participate. As a result, three more students volunteered, and we raised an additional $200 during the assembly.

Thank you to everyone for your generous support over the past two weeks!
