Royals Trap Finish a Close 2nd at State
The Royals shot an impressive score of 492 but came up 1 bird short of Williston's 493. Scoring for the Royals were: David Abel 99, Ethen Abel 99, Samual Abel 99, Brianna Helsene 98 and Karl Behm 97.
Helsene finished 2 in the ladies varsity division with Taryn Albert placing 3rd in the ladies novice division with a score of 73.
The Royals next competition will be July 11-13 at the USA Claytarget NatIonal tournament on Mason Michigan.

Day 3: Competition day! They nailed their routines – and took home the CHAMPIONSHIP for Best Sideline & Cheer Routine! 🥇📣. They also won BEST LEADERSHIP award; as well as several other blue ribbons and pins earned.

🏐Any girls that will be trying out for HS VB this fall (going into grades 9-12) Open Gyms start this week and will be Wednesdays 8-9:30 am in the elementary gym. Also, there will be a link sent out this week about a team camp for South Prairie – Max VB players. It will be held at South Prairie on June 24 and 25 the camp will run from 9 – 12 each day. Please be on the lookout for that link if you are interested in attending.
Royals Trap Team is the Best in the West
The Royals trap team lead by Mathew Abel's perfect score of 100 dominated the field today at the Scheel's Best in the West Tournament held here in Minot. The Royals team score of 484 was 22 better then 2nd place Berthold.
The Royals held the top 4 positions on the podium with Mathew Abel winning the High Overall Shooter Award, Brianna Helsen placed 2nd with a 97 and was High Female Shooter for the day. Coming in 3rd was Samual Abel with a 97, followed by his twin brother David with a score of 96. rounding out the scoring and placing 7th over all was Isaac Sherven with a score of 94.
The Royals will be in Horace next Sunday for the State Championships.

DC Trip: Day 4-Our final day was jammed packed with a lot to see. We started the day at the US Army Museum, followed by a trip to Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. After lunch on the bus, we made our way to Arlington Cemetery. The kids were able to witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, walk around the inside of the Arlington hose, Robert E Lee's home, and finally we saw JFK's burial site and the eternal flame. Our final stop of the trip was at the National Archives where we saw documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. We said goodbye to our tour guide "Coach", had supper and headed to the airport. A lot was packed in the four days we were there, but the kids made a lot of memories and will be excited to share with everyone when we get back.
DC Trip: Day 3-Spent the morning and afternoon atGettysburg, got rained on for a little bit of the tour but was able to get out and see some of the views. After dinner, we went to the MLK, FDR and the Vietnam Memorial. Ended the night down at Old Town Alexandria. Last day tomorrow will be highlighted with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery.
Trap Team Wins Top Ten Shoot
Lead by Brianna Helsene, David Abel and Samual Abel's rounds of 99 out of 100, the South Prairie Trap team beat 20other schools from the Fargo area. With a final score of 769 the Royals dominated their next closest opponent, Fargo North's score of 746.
Additional scores for the Royals were: Josh Lindbo 98, Mathew Abel 97, Ethan Abel 95, Karl Behm 91, Luke Anderson 91, Ty Murphy 90 and Tate Heer 86.
Samual Abel won the "Top Gun" ward in a shoot off with Helsene, David Abel and another shooter from Fargo North. Brianna Helsene won top Female Shooter with her 99.
The Royals will shoot again June 7 here in Minot at the Best in the West shoot.
DC Trip-Day 2: Our first full day was jammed packed with a lot of things to see and experience for the first time. Stops at the US Capital and the Library of Congress in the morning, followed by lunch and a trip to the White House. Then onto the Holocaust Museum where the kids got to view some pretty intense and emotional things. They were give an ID card that had a name of one of the prisoners of the camps and their story and whether they survived. Then it was time for supper at a Texas BBQ joint and a short visit to the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial before the clouds opened up and rained on us. Tomorrow is another jammed packed day highlighted with a trip to Gettysburg.
Day 1 of the Washington DC trip is in the books. After an all night drive to Minneapolis and 2 flights, we arrived in DC and took in the Washington Monument, WWII Memorial, Lincoln Monument and the Korean War Memorial followed by dinner and check in at the hotel. Here's to a good night's rest and a busty day tomorrow.

Our Cossacks’ season came to an end today with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Harvey. A special congratulations goes to sophomore pitcher Olivia Jansen. With her 12 strikeouts today, Olivia has surpassed the 200 strikeout mark for her career. Congratulations Olivia!!
