South Prairie competed in the Regional Academic Olympics in Plaza today against 15 other area schools. At this event, each school brings 6 students to compete by answering questions in the areas of math, language arts, science, social studies, current events, and miscellaneous. The top teams advance to the lightning round and the winner of the lightning round advances to state. The Royals missed qualifying for the lightning round by one 1 point, but still did a great job! 👏

Tied for 1st in Humorous Duo and State Qualifying are the duo of Taylor Post and Jaret Eklie, and the duo of Burke Rauschenberger and Oliver Marshall! Emma Reierson also State Qualified in her Dramatic Interpretation with a second place to a Class A 1st, which is considered a Class A/Class B split and both speakers qualify for their respective State Speech Tournament.
Other award winners included: Emma Marten-3rd Speech to Entertain and 4th EPR, Amelia Hogue-3rd Poetry Interpretation, Teyah Dougay/Landen Jansen-4th Serious Duo, Amelia Hogue/Ella Novak-5th Serious Duo, Raegen Routledge/Taylor Post-6th Serious Duo, Anslee Schillinger-6th Humorous Interpretation and 7th Radio Broadcasting, Deirdre Schmidt-7th EPR, Brenley Mosser/Paige Lewis-7th Humorous Duo. Seven FFA members traveled to Killdeer to compete in Winter Career Development Events. Logan Hanneman and Miley Nelson competed in Ag Sales, Logan earned 10th place! Rayna Magandy, Kinley Schilla, Madison Sys, Colter Sys, and Brekken Neshem judged Livestock.
A great performance by all members to kick off the season!
