South Prairie Parents, I am honored to share with you the positive things that are going on here at South Prairie School. Too often we hear only the negative things that have been happening in education. Last month we were notified from ND Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kirsten Baesler, that South Prairie School is one of the top 15% performing districts in the state. With parent/teacher conferences just being completed, we want to thank all of you for taking time to stop in and visit with your children’s teachers. The support of parents is one of the most important tools we have as a school to assist in educating children. When parents are actively involved in their child’s education, students see improvement not only in the classroom, but also in all aspects of their lives. Across the nation, we hear of the negative effects COVID-19 has had on students, it is because of hard work of students, staff and ultimately parents that have kept our students reaching their full potential as learners. Thank you again for your support of South Prairie School and most importantly for taking an active role in your child’s education. Superintendent Wayne Stanley

Dear Parents, As you may know, the COVID pandemic put a halt to PTO’s biggest fundraiser, the fan-favorite CARNIVAL 2 years in a row! We’ve cut corners and tried different fundraisers, and now we’ve found a HUGE opportunity. Next weekend (November 6-7) South Prairie is hosting a youth basketball tournament. Volunteers are needed to take admission, run the concessions, keep bathrooms clean, help with court monitoring, and to help keep things running smoothly. We are hoping to utilize 2-3 hour shifts between 8am - 8pm on both Saturday & Sunday. If you are able to help, please text ALYSA LEIER at (701)720-6397 by WEDNESDAY (Nov. 3)! ****WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Thank you, South Prairie PTO

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, schools across the nation are seeing disruptions in their supply and distribution channels. Here at South Prairie Schools, we are seeing the same problems. Our current distributor has dropped all of their school accounts in ND, SD, and MN. We have been able to secure a new vendor; sadly, it is resulting in frequent menu changes, reduced menu variety, and changes in meal service options. These problems are related to supply-chain backlogs, which plague the entire system. The most common problems are discontinued menu items, shortages, longer-than-normal lead times, significantly higher costs compared with pre-pandemic bids, delayed deliveries, or deliveries that contain a fraction of what was ordered. Β  Like all schools, we are facing enormous challenges in offering consistent menus and meals. When menu changes occur, we make all attempts to notify students the day before. Please keep an eye on the school’s app (Dining section of the main menu), we will continue to post menu changes as they occur. Thank you for your patience and support.
