Saturday morning our speech team (minus the FFA kids who do speech) was off to Garrison to a three-round tournament, meaning all events ran concurrently. While the day goes faster, it is also more stressful. The original plan was to leave after rounds for the State A Girl's Basketball Championship game, however, with the three-round tournament, awards were announced in time for speakers to drive safely in time for the basketball tourney.
Here are the results for the day:
EPR- Emma Marten took 7th place and Elias Jimenez took 5th place.
Serious Prose- Skylar Beck placed 8th.
Humorous Interp- Maddie Hogue placed 3rd.
Serious Duo- Brooke Leiss and Maddie Hogue placed 6th. Emma Marten and Skylar Beck placed 1st! This qualifies Emma and Skylar for State Speech in April! Congratulations!
Humorous Duo- Emma Marten and Karl Behm placed 2nd in a 3-way tie with duos from Kenmare and Glenburn.
Poetry- Maddie Hogue placed 4th.
Impromptu- Skylar Beck placed 7th. Calen Rohrbach placed 3rd.
Storytelling- Calen Rohrbach placed 7th.
Maddie Hogue earned her last leg to become a member of the ND Speech and Drama 🎭 All State Team. She joins teammates Skylar Beck, Gracie Rauschenberger, and Josh Lindbo.
Congratulations to the girls basketball team on their 2nd place finish at state! It was a great season, and the whole community is proud of you! Also, congratulations to Skotti Beck and Rylee Routledge for being named to the All-Tournament team!

The hospitality room at the fair grounds grandstands will be open at 3:00 this afternoon to gather before the night games, and after our game again!
THEY ADVANCE! The girls beat the Skyhawks 75-64 and play in the semi-finals tomorrow at 8:15 vs. Thompson!

There will be a hospitality room at the fairgrounds, below the grandstands, for all fans to gather after the game! Stay tuned for the days/times it will be open the other days!
Shirts will be available for pickup tomorrow at 12:00 pm. If you have a student at South Prairie, please have them pick up your shirts! Otherwise, you can stop by the office tomorrow from 12:00-3:20 to pickup. There will be other times at the dome available if NEEDED! It is just preferred that they can be picked up asap.

The pep rally tomorrow starts at 2:30 p.m. in the South Prairie high school gym. This is open to the community and will also be streamed on our Youtube page! The Booster Club will have the clothing cart available before and after the pep rally if you need to get some Royals gear!
We will send an announcement out as soon as shirts are ready to let everyone know how to pick them up. For now, make sure you have them paid for and ready to pickup. You can pay for your orders in the office or through eFunds!
The junior high boys basketball games scheduled on Thursday, February 29 will be played in Drake and will start at 4:00 & 5:00 to accommodate our kids and parents who wish to attend the State Basketball Tournament game Thursday night.

-The bus will come through the South Prairie parking lot around 12:20. All students will line the sidewalks to wish them good luck!
