The JH BBB @ Surrey has been rescheduled to Monday, March 4th at 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.

This week, February 20th-23rd is National FFA Week. South Prairie FFA is hosting an FFA scavenger hunt for grades 6-12! Throughout the week, messages will be sent out at 8 a.m. before school starts. The messages will consist of what you’re looking for (an advisor’s face or the FFA emblem), and a hint on where to look for it. You will have all school day to look. When you find the paper with the advisor’s face or the emblem, take a selfie with it and bring it to Mrs. Riemer’s room to be entered into the drawing for the day. At the end of the week on Friday, we will draw 3 names and the 3 winners will each receive a $50.00 Scheels gift card! Good luck and we hope you all participate!
Today is the first day of FFA week! You will be looking for Mr. Seidler’s face today. Here is your hint:
“A project our chapter started this semester, there are two places it could be. This CAN be a hard one to find, search wisely.”

Join the student council for their annual Royal Ties event! 🧶 Friday, February 23rd at 7:15 a.m., we will get together, have some donuts, and make blankets to donate to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center. This event is open to any students, staff, and family members who would like to join us! If you plan to attend, please fill out this form so we can plan for supplies! https://forms.office.com/r/GsbEudJqVL

A note about the positives and negatives of technology!
Yesterday we were able to see the positive and negative effects of hands-on technology. As many of you may have heard, we had an incident on the Jr High/High school side of the building. To ensure privacy, we had the students shelter in place/clear the hallways, at no time was any child in danger. It was at this time that technology took over, rumors started, assumptions were made, and tales were told. Some texts were sent and posts were made that were based on rumors and assumptions.
The positive side of technology was that we could instantly get assistance and people coordinated to help ensure all students were safe and the situation was dealt with. The negative side of technology is that rumors were spread. The lesson that we teach the kids before sending a text or making a post about someone, is based on answering 3 simple questions: Is it necessary? Is it kind? Is it true?
As educators, we strive to learn from the past and work to make improvements on how we operate. Rest assured our school safety team will learn from this and strive to better prepare our staff and students for possible disruptions without creating any panic.
Thank you all for your support!
Mr. Stanley
