Parents/Guardians/Fans, As we enter post season play for our Girls and Boys basketball teams, we want to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of positive sportsmanship and representing our school and community with pride at all athletic events. At South Prairie School, we believe that sports are not just about winning or losing but about character building, teamwork, and respect. As parents, you play a crucial role in shaping the experiences of our student-athletes both on and off the field. Your support and encouragement contribute significantly to creating a positive environment for everyone involved. We kindly ask that you uphold the following principles: 1. Positive Attitude: Regardless of the outcome of the game, maintain a positive attitude towards players, coaches, officials, and opposing teams. Cheer loudly for our team while showing respect for the efforts of the opposing players. 2. Respect for Officials: Remember that officials are human and, like all of us, are susceptible to making mistakes. Refrain from questioning their decisions or displaying disrespectful behavior towards them. Let's set an example of good sportsmanship by accepting their calls graciously, even if we may disagree. 3. Role Modeling: As parents, you serve as role models for our student-athletes. Your behavior in the stands reflects directly on our school and community. Let's demonstrate the values of respect, integrity, and sportsmanship that we aim to instill in our students. 4. Supportive Environment: Create a supportive and inclusive environment for all spectators. Encourage fellow parents to join you in fostering a positive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and valued. 5. Encouragement: Offer words of encouragement to all players, not just your own child. Recognize their efforts, hard work, and improvement, regardless of the outcome of the game. By adhering to these principles, we can ensure that our athletic events are enjoyable and enriching experiences for all involved. Let's come together as a community to support our student-athletes and promote the values of sportsmanship, respect, and unity. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support. Together, we can make this post season a memorable and positive one for our student-athletes. Go Royals! Sincerely, Wayne Stanley, Superintendent

This week, February 20th-23rd is National FFA Week. South Prairie FFA is hosting an FFA scavenger hunt for grades 6-12! Throughout the week, messages will be sent out at 8 a.m. before school starts. The messages will consist of what you’re looking for (an advisor’s face or the FFA emblem), and a hint on where to look for it. You will have all school day to look. When you find the paper with the advisor’s face or the emblem, take a selfie with it and bring it to Mrs. Riemer’s room to be entered into the drawing for the day. At the end of the week on Friday, we will draw 3 names and the 3 winners will each receive a $50.00 Scheels gift card! Good luck and we hope you all participate! Today is the first day of FFA week! You will be looking for Mr. Seidler’s face today. Here is your hint: “A project our chapter started this semester, there are two places it could be. This CAN be a hard one to find, search wisely.”

A note about the positives and negatives of technology! Yesterday we were able to see the positive and negative effects of hands-on technology. As many of you may have heard, we had an incident on the Jr High/High school side of the building. To ensure privacy, we had the students shelter in place/clear the hallways, at no time was any child in danger. It was at this time that technology took over, rumors started, assumptions were made, and tales were told. Some texts were sent and posts were made that were based on rumors and assumptions. The positive side of technology was that we could instantly get assistance and people coordinated to help ensure all students were safe and the situation was dealt with. The negative side of technology is that rumors were spread. The lesson that we teach the kids before sending a text or making a post about someone, is based on answering 3 simple questions: Is it necessary? Is it kind? Is it true? As educators, we strive to learn from the past and work to make improvements on how we operate. Rest assured our school safety team will learn from this and strive to better prepare our staff and students for possible disruptions without creating any panic. Thank you all for your support! Mr. Stanley
