The start of the fall sports season is right around the corner! Here is the info you need for the first days of each sport! If you have any questions, reach out to your coach for more information:
⛳ Girls Golf (7-12th Grade): Practice starts August 1st from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Souris Valley Golf Course. Contact Coach Palczewski at kayla.palczewski@k12.nd.us to get added to the list and receive practice information. There will not be a parent meeting, just a form to sign off on the first week.
📣 Cheerleading (7th-12th Grade): Practice starts August 7th at the school from 7:00-11:00 a.m.
🏈 Football (9th-12th Grade): Parent meeting and equipment handout for grades 9-12 on August 1st at 6:30 p.m. High school practice will be August 3rd-11th from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (No practice Sunday the 6th). From August 14th to the end of the season, practice will be from 3:45 to 5:45 Monday-Thursday.
👟 Cross Country (7th-12th Grade): XC (7-12) will start on Monday, August 14 @ 8:00 am in Max. To sign up, call the Max School at 679-2685 or email Lesli.Talbott@k12.nd.us.
🏈 JH Football: First practice will be on August 7th from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. More detailed schedule to come.
🏐 HS Volleyball: Practice starts on August 14th from 6:00-8:00 a.m. and 3:45-5:45 p.m. There will be a parent meeting on August 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the commons area. Practices the first week will follow the same time schedule as the first day for all players. After the first week, only varsity players will have two practices a day. More details on practices will be given at the parent meeting.
🏐 JH Volleyball: Player meeting after school on August 18th and a practice schedule will be distributed at the meeting.
🏀 5th and 6th Grade Girls Basketball: *This season has moved to the fall. The first practice will be on August 28th at 3:30 p.m. More details on practices and the season will come out later.
📅 All South Prairie-Max games and meets are on the school Google calendar and in the “Athletics” section of the website/app.
✔️ All athletes need to have a sports physical before the first practice and must pay the $25 activity fee.
If you are headed to the ND State Fair, the kids are running parking at Dakota Refrigerations lot. You can find them at 2000 Eighth Ave SE.

Hello, Royals! Hopefully, everyone is enjoying their summer vacation! Now is the time to get started with registration for the 2023-2024 school year!
-𝙉𝙀𝙒 𝙎𝙏𝙐𝘿𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙎 will be required to come to the school for registration in the commons area on 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟬:𝟬𝟬 𝗮.𝗺. 𝘁𝗼 𝟰:𝟬𝟬 𝗽.𝗺. At registration, families will pay fees, fill out paperwork, get a tour of the school, and be able to ask any questions they have going into the new school year! Please enter through door 13 as the parking lot will still be under construction.

• Extra-Curricular Fees (5-12th Grade) $25 per activity for grades 5-12 (Cap of $150 per family)

Girls in grades 7-12, if you're interested in playing golf this season, please send Miss Palczewski an email with your name and phone number so you can get the information for practices and the schedule for upcoming meets! The first day of practice is August 1st!

Samual Abel Takes 8th at NATIONALS
Samual Abel shot 100 straight today to make it into a shoot off with 16 other men and 2 ladies at the National Clay Target Championships in Mason Michigan. In the shoot off Samual ran 25 straight at 16yds and was eliminated in 8th place when he missed his last bird at 20 yards.
The Royals were well represented in the finals with 11 individuals making the top 400.
Final overall results out of 1800 shooters were:
Samual Abel 8th, Connor Beckedahl 60th, Connor Johnson 106th, David Abel 159th, Carson Anderson 162nd, Wyatt VoVilla 275th, Luke Anderson 292nd, Logan Hanneman 354th, Carter Korslien 387th, Miranda Novodvorsky 391st and Gage Olson 392nd.
Logan placed 33rd in the female division with Miranda placing 39th overall.


TRAP TEAM FINISHES 9th
The Royals Trap team shot a score of 481 to finish in 9th at the 2023 National High School Clay Target league tournament.
As a team we tied with 4 other teams for places 7-10 and finished in 9th based on tie breaking rules.
Team members are Connor Johnson, Brianna Helsene,Samual Abel, Mathew Abel and Davis Abel.


TRAP TEAM QUALIFIES 11 INDIVIDUALS FOR THE FINALS
Eleven of the 23 members of the trap team shot qualifying scores to advance to tomorrows National Finals.
Leading the way with scores of 99 were: Carson Anderson, David Abel and Samual Abel.
Qualifying with a score of 99 were: Carter Korslien, Logan Hanneman and Wyatt VoVilla
Shooting scores of 97 were: Connor Johnson, Miranda Novodvorsky, and Gage Olson
The final two qualifiers were Luke Anderson with a 96 and Connor Beckedahl with a 95.
All scores reset tomorrow, and the kids will shoot for individual titles starting at noon.
The team will shoot for a team title starting at 9:30.

Trap Team Moves onto the Finals
The Royals Trap team sit a qualifying score of 480 to advance to Sunday's finals. With 240 teams across the nation shooting today, the Royals finished 7th to move on to Sundays medal round. All teams will start at zero on Sunday and it will become a best of 500 shoot.

Qualifying day for the team at the National Championships in Mason Michigan. The team opened with a 243 out of 250. Will shoot their last 50 at around 4:00. You can follow the live scoring on www.claytargetleaderboard.com

📆 NEW STUDENTS, mark your calendars! On July 20th, we will hold registration in the commons area at the school from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is for all students/families that are new to the school this coming year! You will complete all of your paper work and receive a tour from a student Royal Representative.
RETURNING STUDENTS, you will complete registration online. Information will be sent out in the next few weeks!
FFA members and parents, there will be several FFA specific opportunities sent out on the Royals app the next few days. These will only be seen if you have the FFA push notification selected in the app. To activate the group, go into the app, select menu, select settings, select push notifications, and select FFA. Refresh the app to receive the notifications. Thank you!
P-EBT BENEFITS
You may be eligible to receive P-EBT benefits for your school-aged children this summer. Children who received free or reduced-price lunch through the National School Lunch Program and were attending school at the end of the 22-23 school year. If your children are not currently eligible but might be for the 2023-2024 school year, you are encouraged to complete the P-EBT application and submit a Free/Reduced-Price application by August 25, 2023. Applications for the 23-24 school year will be available after July 5th or in your back to school packet.
This year parents/guardians must complete an application to receive Summer P-EBT. The application can be completed online at https://ndsummerebt.nd.gov/

All South Prairie Athletes in Grades 7-12:
Brody Myers, new strength coach from Heilman’s Performance, is holding strength sessions for all South Prairie athletes at the school on Mondays and Wednesdays. Girls sessions will be at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 6:30 p.m. These sessions will go for the rest of the summer with the exception of the week of the 4th of July and the last week of July. We encourage all of our athletes to take advantage of this awesome opportunity!

STATE CHAMPIONS!
The Royals Trap Team shot a team score of 492 to win their 3rd straight state title!
Mathew Abel shot a perfect score of 100 lead the way for the Royals. Ethan Abel shot a 99 to place 2nd overall, with Tate Heer and Connor Johnson shooting 98's to finish 1 out of placing.
Brianna Helsene shot a 96 to win the "High Female" shooter award.
The Royals had 27 shooters with a score of 90 or better for one of the strongest performances the state has ever seen. South Prairie bested Williston by 10 birds.



Athletes, just a reminder that you can get sports physicals today!
South Prairie students have an opportunity for a sports physical with Dr. Mattern Friday 6/16; 8a – 12p at MAYSA arena. and again on July 11th.
$30 per physical, $15 if you are a Summer Trinity FASTER participant. ½ of the proceeds go back to the school for sports medicine equipment purchases. Athlete/Parents should download the form attached to flyer, make sure it has a parent signature before coming.
