Royals Trap Team Qualifies 5th in the Nation

Squad 1 shot an impressive score of 487 to qualify for Sunday's Team Finals at the National Tournament. Led by Samual Abel with a 99, David Abel 98, Joshua Lindbo 97, Mathew Abel 97 and Breanna Helsene 96.

Squad 2 finished 164th in the the Nation with a score of 449. They were led in scoring by Logan Hanneman 99, Ethan Abel 92, Tate Heer 90, Karl Behm 86 and Luke Anderson 82.

We will have 12 shooters in tomorrow's Individual qualifier. The top 400 of the 1800+ shooters will qualify for the individual finals.

National Trap Championships The Royals Trap Team is in Mason Michigan this weekend competing in the National Trap Championships. Squad 1 opens the scoring this morning with a round of 246 out of 250. Squad 2 will shoot at 12:30. Leading Squad 1 is David Abel 50, Samual Abel 50, Joshua Lindbo 49, Breanna Helsene 49 and Mathew Abel 48. They went 121-125 for a perfect score in round 2.

South Prairie School District Cell Phone / Electronic Personal Device Policy: There will be an important change taking effect at the start of the upcoming school year. Due to a recent change in state law, and in accordance with newly adopted District Policy FFI, all student access to cell phones, Bluetooth earpieces, and smartwatches will be restricted during the school day. These personal devices must remain inaccessible to students from the first bell to the last bell of the school day. To support students in complying with this new policy, South Prairie School District will implement the Yondr pouch system. This system allows students to keep their phones with them, but locked in a secure pouch that cannot be accessed during school hours. Students will be required to lock their phones in their pouches at the start of their day, and will be able to unlock it at various stations at the end of the day. All students in grades K-12 have the following options for Yondr Pouches: -Rent for the school year: $10 -Purchase and own: $30 All students bringing a phone into the school building will be required to secure it in a Yondr pouch upon entry and keep it secured until dismissal. Students can also choose to keep their phone at home. We understand this is a significant adjustment for some families, but we believe this step will promote a more focused, respectful, and safe learning environment. The policy is designed to reduce distractions, support mental well-being, and protect instructional time. Disciplinary actions for students who do not follow this policy will be added to the discipline matrix and student handbook. Just a reminder that today from 9:00-5:00 is the sports physical day at the school. Don't forget - all student athletes are required to have a physical by their first day of practice!

Three FFA members traveled to Garrison Tuesday to compete in the District II Tractor Operator event. Jase Schilla, Natalee Becker, and Amber Braasch all advanced to the state event, which will be held July 18th. Way to go! 🚜 South Prairie FFA would like to thank Daryl Becker for providing a tractor to practice our skills! We would also like to thank Northern Plains Equipment in Garrison for providing tractors and hosting the event!

Royals Trap Finish a Close 2nd at State The Royals shot an impressive score of 492 but came up 1 bird short of Williston's 493. Scoring for the Royals were: David Abel 99, Ethen Abel 99, Samual Abel 99, Brianna Helsene 98 and Karl Behm 97. Helsene finished 2 in the ladies varsity division with Taryn Albert placing 3rd in the ladies novice division with a score of 73. The Royals next competition will be July 11-13 at the USA Claytarget NatIonal tournament on Mason Michigan.

They nailed their routines – and took home the CHAMPIONSHIP for Best Sideline & Cheer Routine! 🥇📣. They also won BEST LEADERSHIP award; as well as several other blue ribbons and pins earned. 🎖️ 4 girls earned All American 🕊️ 1 girl won the Jump Off competition In just 3 days, these athletes showed what hard work, heart, and determination can achieve. 🏐Any girls that will be trying out for HS VB this fall (going into grades 9-12) Open Gyms start this week and will be Wednesdays 8-9:30 am in the elementary gym. Also, there will be a link sent out this week about a team camp for South Prairie – Max VB players. It will be held at South Prairie on June 24 and 25 the camp will run from 9 – 12 each day. Please be on the lookout for that link if you are interested in attending.

Royals Trap Team is the Best in the West The Royals trap team lead by Mathew Abel's perfect score of 100 dominated the field today at the Scheel's Best in the West Tournament held here in Minot. The Royals team score of 484 was 22 better then 2nd place Berthold. The Royals held the top 4 positions on the podium with Mathew Abel winning the High Overall Shooter Award, Brianna Helsen placed 2nd with a 97 and was High Female Shooter for the day. Coming in 3rd was Samual Abel with a 97, followed by his twin brother David with a score of 96. rounding out the scoring and placing 7th over all was Isaac Sherven with a score of 94. The Royals will be in Horace next Sunday for the State Championships.
